My Journey
My name is Madison, and I am 24 years old. I decided I wanted to change my life in March of 2019. My primary doctor referred me to Dr. Cheregi and the Advanced Bariatrics office. I was very nervous and embarrassed to have even gotten to the point of considering weight loss surgery. I felt like that meant I failed and I had given up. Those feelings completely disappeared after the first consultation with Dr. Cheregi. He was so caring and conscience of what I was feeling. I could tell he had a passion for helping people become the best versions of themselves. I knew I was where I needed to be. Kiersten, Dr. Cheregi’s assistant, was always eager to answer any questions or concerns I may have had. I was given the “Bariatric Bible” that was a complete guide to success! The whole team held my hand through the entire process and made me feel like I was the only patient they had. Through an incredibly smooth process, I quickly got my surgery date; and I underwent surgery in July of 2019.
I am 6 months post surgery, and I have lost 84 lbs. and have lost over 13 inches. The clarity I feel and the happiness that has overcome me has made this experience the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. This is a lifestyle change. Yes, the surgery has helped guide me in the right direction; but it is not a “magic pill”. It is hard work; and there are days I struggle, sometimes even weeks! The most important thing is to not turn back and only continue moving forward. Dr. Cheregi told me the Gastric Sleeve surgery is the easiest part of this lifelong process, and he was right. Every day is a journey and my fate lays in my hands only.
My advice to anyone considering having surgery is to take that first step to have a consultation with Dr. Cheregi and talk about the concerns you have and whether you feel like a good candidate for the procedure. He will be honest with you, and he will guide you to the right path. I feel like I am myself again. The Advanced Bariatrics Team was a true blessing, and I am forever thankful for their assistance in making me the best version of myself.
